6×6 Sudoku — balanced flow

Place 1–6 once per row, column, and 2×3 box. A medium-sized board that usually takes 3–8 minutes — ideal for practicing techniques in shorter sessions.

Why pick 6×6

  • A balanced step between mini and classic Sudoku
  • Finishes in 3–8 minutes — fits commutes and lunch breaks
  • Great for learning Locked Candidates and Naked Pairs
  • Builds confidence before tackling full 9×9

Who it's for

Choose 6×6 when 4×4 feels too short but you don't want to commit to a long 9×9 round, or when you're practicing techniques in bite-sized sessions.

6×6 Sudoku rules

Each row and column contains 1 through 6 exactly once, and each box is 2×3. It is smaller than 9×9 but still asks you to cross-check rows, columns, and boxes.

6×6 solving tips

  • Count missing digits in each 2×3 box before scanning the whole board.
  • If candidates in a box all sit on one line, remove that candidate from the rest of the line.
  • Use notes once cells have only two candidates; 6×6 is where technique practice starts to pay off.

Scoring & ranking

6×6 uses the same scoring formula and daily ranking. Zero-hint runs enter Official ranking; runs with hints are separated into Assisted ranking.
